Spring Forward with Vitamin D for Weight Loss! 🌞

It's that time of year again when we set our clocks forward this past Sunday (my favorite day of the year! 🌞💃🏻). During this time, the sun rises later, but daylight also lasts longer. With warmer days ahead, I wanted to take a moment to talk about a vital weight loss component most of us don't ever think about —vitamin D!
Vitamin D is essential for overall health – it's important for bone health, muscle function, and immune system support. Some studies suggest that vitamin D may influence fat storage and formation, which can affect hormone levels and, through those, weight management as well.
The sun is the best source of vitamin D. As the Seasons change, we will have many more chances to enjoy the sunshine, but until then, let's make sure we're getting all of the vitamin D we can, especially for those early risers who work in offices and may not see the sun until they're facing it during that sunset rush-hour drive.
If you can’t get as much sunlight as you want for your vitamin D, there are a few foods you can include in your diet that will help give that boost of this valuable vitamin that your body needs – some of which you probably already have in your fridge! Certain seafood like salmon and sardines, egg yolks, dairy products (including plant-based options,) veggies, and tofu can be excellent go-to sources. So, stock up on these superfoods, get your vitamin D, and get "swimsuit ready" so we can soak up that summer sun!
